The Book Mill began in an old water mill on the banks of the River Eden in Cumbria. It stopped milling grain about 50 years ago and since then it's been a venue for art exhibitions, jazz, classical music concerts and poetry readings. Now it has given its name to a small publishing press. We specialize in biography, poetry, fiction, and books that are relevant to the Lake District.

Submissions Policy
The Book Mill does not accept unsolicited manuscripts.
We only publish about 5 books a year and are very selective. We take only a small percentage of the earned royalties on actual sales to cover our costs and you will receive payment, with a clear statement of sales and income, at regular intervals. Our contracts are fair and open and are time-limited to 3 years. All rights revert to the Author after this period.
